That's an interesting post.
 
There are lots of ways of enjoying playing harmonica, some of them lend themselves 
to competition others don't.  There aren't any rules: you don't have to learn your 
instrument, if random chugging is your thing then go for it; you don't have to play 
with others; and you definitely don't have to play to an audience, playing music 
with others or alone is an enjoyable activity in it's own right.
 
There's no universal criteria for comparing and ranking players, but that doesn't
mean you can't make up an arbitary marking scheme for the purposes of staging a 
competition. If there are people that enjoy taking part in the competion then that's
all the justification it needs.
