What does a Harmonica, Singer & Drum clinic cover and how does it work?

This is a very unique class taught by two Masters of their Craft bringing over 50 years of combined Stage & Recording experience of players that have worked with a wide variety of artists from Blood Sweat and Tears to Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan and The Original Blues Brothers Band.

The seminar covers invaluable techniques with playing, recording and performance tips guaranteed to make you a more versatile and skillful Musician.

Rob has been honing his craft as a Chromatic & Diatonic Harmonica player as well as Frontman-Lead Singer (who also double on Guitar & Piano) since 1967. NY based, he has created harmonica parts for Broadway shows and played on many Jingles, TV shows and Artist sessions. He taught Harmonica (all styles) at The Turtle Bay Music School in NYC and studied with players like Cham-Ber Huang, Toots Theilemans and Magic Dick. On the road Rob has been Musical Director for Bernard Purdie and Chuck Rainey and fronted The Legendary Original Blues Brothers Band as well as Blood Sweat and Tears large concerts around the globe.

Drummer Bernard Purdie came to NYC in 1960 from Elkton Maryland and never looked back. His 1st gig was with King Curtis and The Kingpins and that led to the title of one of the most recorded drummers in the world. From Steely Dan to Aretha, Quincy and Jeff Beck to name a few.

Bernard has taught classes not only in Drumming but ensemble playing at The New School in NYC with former students like Larry Goldings (Organ) and John Popper (Harmonica).

HARP & DRUM CLINIC (Rob Paparozzi and Bernard "Pretty" Purdie)

Who can benefit from this type of clinic?

The combined forces of Rob & Bernard is NOT a class just for Harmonica Players and Drummers. It is for ALL aspiring musicians: Sax, Brass, Bass, Singers, Keyboardist and Recording engineers can all come away with a deeper understanding of Musical Communication both live and in the Studio.

Bernard especially encourages the parents, the families of Music lovers and players too attend and learn how to direct and guide their children to a respected and fulfilling career in the field.

How it works and what you'll need. The Clinic runs 2-3 hrs. Drummers should bring sticks, brushes and a notebook and even some questions you've made up in advance for Bernard. The Drummers will discuss methods and technique with Bernard and with a full kit on hand as it will be a hands on workshop. The Drummers will work in one room for the first 2/3 of the workshop as will the Harmonica Players in their own room. Harp Players should bring all keys and a chromatic if they have one.

All others just bring a pad and pen to keep notes in.

During the last portion, both groups will gather in the larger room for full-blown Demo of Rob & Bernard on Stage with a few pre recorded tracks minus Drums and Harmonica and both explain the dynamics of musical interaction and stage tips, again, useful for ALL Instrumentalists and Singers.

Love & Peace,
Rob Paparozzi
