[Harp-L] Fwd: trumpet tricks you can use on your harp

If you want to expand your harmonica playing, try stealing some ideas from trumpet players. Here are two fast-paced videos by New York trumpet player Charlie Porter.

Some of the trumpet terms may sound familiar if you have studied some of the David Barrett material in videos and books. Obviously, the harmonica is no trumpet and the valves on a trumpet are unlike those on a harmonica. But half-valve playing on the trumpet sounds like it would work on the chromatic. And the coughing technique for double and triple tonging on the trumpet might work with tongue blocking to get that same percussive stop also achieved on the harp by placing the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth.
